One of the most impressive features of the landscape is the ornamental foreground that effectively secludes the burial sections from the roadway.

Much of Cedar Hill's wildlife is sustained in this natural habitat of more than 65 acres of woodlands and ponds.

The largest of the ponds is Llyn Mawr, or "Great Lake." Entirely man-made, Llyn Mawr extends over eight acres of the foreground along the entrance avenue.

Cedar Hill Cemetery is the final resting place of many distinguished and notable individuals.
Among them are Gideon Welles, Secretary of the Navy under President Abraham Lincoln.

Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet, founder of the American School for the Deaf;

Samuel Colt, founder of Colt Industries and inventor of the famous Colt 45 revolver;
